Project Update– Final

Hey also I wanted to post one more thing for this week– an update on the final project.

I’m doing illustrations! And since, like I said, I did my research paper on surrealism I figured I’d keep on with the theme and chose an artist that actually for some reason I didn’t even include in my paper…:/

We went over him though! Can who guess who it is?

Woo yeah! Anyway I look forward to seeing all the projects! You guys hang in there for finals. If I could use a peace-sign emoji I would enter it here.

Weekly Blog Post– Cheatin’

Hey everybody!
I’m having to play catch up since I got a little overwhelmed with work! But I wanted to ask if anyone’s been able to see Cheatin‘ (2013) by Bill Plympton.

I think he came up in class the other day when our guest speaker mentioned his short film Your Face (1987), and I watched that film too since it came up in my research for surrealist animations. It’s really good and his style is bomb.  I watched the trailer for Cheatin’ a while ago and couldn’t find any like really good-quality places to watch the whole thing so I was wondering if anyone else had ever watched it online.

Anyway just to give you incentive to watch it I’ll sum it up real quick– its about a pair of lovers named Jake and Ella who meet through a strange twist of fate in a bumper car accident. When their relationship and their destiny is threatened by another woman, Ella takes matters into her own hands to reclaim his love.

Anyhow I’ll link the trailer and if I find a good link I’ll share that later!

Weekly Blog Post- Maggie’s Apartment

Hi again!
I don’t know if this necessarily falls into the category of something I could post on the blog about but I was just thinking about this cool game that came out a while ago and was wondering if any of you played it or had at least heard about it. There’s really cute animations in it so I’m gonna go ahead and say it fits haha.

Anyway it’s a point-n-click game you can download on Steam called Maggie’s Apartment. Independently produced, it follows the story of a little marshmallow, Maggie Mallowne, as she navigates the world solving a mystery by talking to the neighbors outside her apartment window.

The art is amazing and it’s really nostalgic to me since I grew up with similar games like The Neverhood and Pajama Sam! I don’t know if it’s just me but a good point-n-click stress relieving game is my favorite kind and it’s a special thing when you find a really kick-ass one with a good plot and some good animation. If you have Steam I think you should give it a try.

Here’s the link:

The artist who produced/directed it is a big influence for me so for those of you interested her name is Anatola Howard and her tumblr is maroonraccoon.

I’d link it but tumblr is being a butt.

Checking In- Pixelation Project

Hey y’all it’s a done deal! Our pixelation project is fully edited and ready to go!

We didn’t run into a whole lot of editing problems! Our project was pretty short sweet and simple, we hope you guys enjoy it all the same. Only problem was my computer was lagging the whole time so it was difficult to see if the scenes were cutting where they needed to cut according to the song.

Anyhow we’re excited to see everybody’s stuff come Tuesday! Hang in there with the post-production craziness!
